5 Free activities to do in Bournemouth this summer

The summer seems to be exceptionally late this year. Fingers cross anyway! And let’s plan what to do when sunshine comes!

Bournemouth is not only a big coastal town on the south coast of England, but its 95miles of coastline is also renowned as the east of Jurassic coast. This gorgeous town is definitely one of the places to visit and offers wide range of activities.

What can you do for free this summer in Bournemouth?

1. Surfing, Windsurfing and Kitesurfing

Waist-deep waters and long sandy beaches make Dorset country the perfect place to learn or improve your surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing skills. The top 5 places to catch some waves are Kimmeridge Bay, Bournemouth Beach (The Pier and at Southbourne), Highcliffe Beach, Dulston Point and Lyme Regis.

2.Bouldering

Open and free to use, this remarkable features on Boscombe Beach offers bouldering challenges with various routes to climb up, down and traverse across. You will find a guide displayed on site, ensuring you have fun and safety both.

3.Volleyball

Volleyball is energetic, fun and perfect for summer sports. You will find lot of places across Dorset Beach where you can place your court and enjoy it with friends.

4.Cycle Routes

Discovering new places riding a bike always is a good idea. On this website you can find various cycle routes or even walking routes if you like to go on your foot.

5.BBQ party on the beach

What better way to end a summer’s day on the beach than with a BBQ! So you’ll be pleased to know that the beaches of Bournemouth and Poole allow you to do just that. You can have a BBQ on the beach after 6.00pm

April 5 – 21. Medieval Archery: The Grand Muster at Corfe Castle

This Easter the Wolfshead Bowmen and Companie of the Silver Arrow come to Corfe Castle and bring the past to life. A medieval encampment, demonstrations of combat, skilled archery displays, talks on the longbow and have-a-go sessions!

April 18 . The Coastal Bid Boscombe Easter Adventure 2014 – Easter Egg Hunt

2Begin the Boscombe Easter Egg Hunt. Weave your way around the curious path through high street, Sovereign Centre & Royal Arcade shops.

Visit the friendly shop keepers and collect an Easter Egg sticker, fill in the map and be in for winning an Easter Prize!

Participating shops will display a window sticker or poster to show they are taking part.

April 18 – 20  – The 5th Annual Big Bournemouth Beer Festival – Exeter Road Bournemouth

3Now in its 5th year, the hugely popular Big Bournemouth Beer Festival returns to the BIC Purbeck Hall during Easter bank holiday weekend 2014! Bigger and better each year, the festival features over 200 beers from across the UK.

April 18 – 21 – National Trust & Cadbury Easter Egg Trail on Brownsea Island

4Face painting, games, arts, crafts and Easter egg trail (£2.50) on Church Field. Join in with their Easter activities and have a go at their special Easter trail with a Cadbury’s Egghead prize – 10.30am-4pm.

April 18 – 19. First Annual Boscombe Food Festival

5The first annual Boscombe Food Festival will take place this Easter, 18th and 19th April, in Boscombe’s Sovereign Shopping Centre.

The festival will showcase the culinary talents of local businesses to an expected 40,000 visitors over the two days from stands located along the centre’s main aisles.

 

 

20 April. The Coastal Bid Boscombe Easter Adventure 2014 – Easter Marquee

6Easter Marquee with a Vintage themed Mad Hatters Tea Party, Arts & Crafts and free live music and entertainment.

Continued Easter Egg Hunt through shops, coffee shops & restaurants; promoting any local restaurants offering a good Easter Sunday Roast!.
