Today It’s the first day of Bournemouth Air Festival! It takes place over four days, until Sunday 21st of August. It’s an annual air show held along Bournemouth coast, in Dorset, since August 2008.
The festival includes air displays (from classic flying machines to modern day speed ones), sea displays and interactive static displays. Also, you will can enjoy the fireworks, some family fun attractions, music and live entertainment
The Air Festival site opens from 10am each day.
Flying starts at the following times on each day:
- Thursday: 1:30pm
- Friday: 2pm
- Saturday: 1pm (with beach assaults at 12:30pm)
- Sunday: 1:00pm (with more beach assaults the same time on Saturday)
You will also have some Night Air dusk display, which will start at approximately 8:20pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
During the festival, Bournemouth’s horizon will be transformed by an impressive military flotilla, including four ships, courtesy of the Royal Navy.
IN THE AIR
The skies of Bournemouth will be hosting displays from the awesome RAF Red Arrows and the mighty Typhoon, SallyB and The Blades, to name but few.
The performances for 2016 come from the B25Mitchell Bomber, Strike Master and awe-inspiring Swiss Air Force Super Puma Helicopter Display Team.
The Red Arrows, supported by Morgan Sindall, will be performing at the festival and visitors can see the breath-taking team in action at 3:45 on all four days.
There will be fantastic dusk displays from the Red Devils and O’Briens Flying Circus starring Otto The Helicopter, as well as Team Fire Files and Aerosprax, both bringing formation flying and pyrotechnics to the evening display programme.
RAF assets alongside the Red Arrows and Typhoon will be the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and fantastic interactive RAF Village.
ON THE GROUND
The Royal Navy & Army will be demonstrating their land, sea and air capabilities with a number of great static and interactive displays at their village area, all bolstered tremendously by world class music from the Royal Marines Band, HM RM Band Collingwood.
This year’s Night Air entertainment, with Wave105, runs across three nights (Thursday 18th, Friday 19th and Saturday 20th August) It includes fireworks at 10:00pm on Friday and Saturday, along with three fantastic nights.
