Find your dream job in The UK

One of the reasons why some foreign people come to England, is to find a job. Actually, the employment status in lot of European countries and outside Europe, is not the best and we are not going to lie, the unemployment rate here is far better than most other European countries meaning that generally speaking there are many more opportunities in the UK for us.

Why do I say the UK brings us to many opportunities? First of all, if you compare The United Kingdom unemployment of this year (5.1%) with, for example, Spain (20.4%) the difference between both countries is huge, Spain has quadruple the amount unemployment than the UK. This means the labour supply is greater than in other countries and it’s not just that, if you ask someone who has come to the Anglo-Saxon country for development possibilities in their chosen field, their answer will be positive. England allows you to grow professionally in your work environment more easily. But it’s not all a bed of roses, British people demand a basic knowledge of English to get a promotion and you need to have previous experience in your field within The United Kingdom. For this reason the best option before you start your job search, if your English is not good enough, is to do an English Course or an Internship.

What do you need before starting your job search?

Like everywhere else you will need to have your CV in English and a cover letter. Remember that in the UK, you do not need a picture of yourself on your CV nor do you need to state your date of birth – they don’t care about your age or how you look. In my opinion this is a good decision, because your knowledge doesn’t depend on these aspects. The cover letter is a document where you explain the reasons why you want to get the vacancy, your experience in the field and your expectations for the job.

World Choice Education does a Free Employment Workshop on the last Thursday of every month to prep you for job seeking. During these sessions you will review CVs and cover letters as well as be given some useful Interview tips.

Once you have these documents ready it’s time to start your search, you have two choices: throw yourself onto the streets and leave some CVs and cover letters or you can start your search on the internet.
