There is life after Summer in Bournemouth!

As you all may already know, summer is officially over. To be honest with ourselves, even if the day before yesterday was the first day of autumn, it never really felt like summer so I guess it’s not such a big deal that it’s not summer anymore (*laughing emoticon*). Anyway, as the headline says, there is life after summer in Bournemouth and today I’m bringing you a preview of what’s on during the following weeks.

October 9th to 18th. Write these dates down guys because BOURNEMOUTH ARTS FESTIVAL comes with a stellar line-up of entertainment to suit all tastes, there’s sure to be something that takes your interest.

This fascinating event is now in its fifth year and promises to excite and entertain with a 10-day programme of theatre, music, dance, visual and interactive art.

bournemouthThe opening nights will light up Bournemouth’s skyline with a fabulous display of digital fireworks choreographed by the crowd. This is more than a typical fireworks show. PixelPyros gives you the opportunity to control these virtual pyrotechnics by touching the orbs of light and therefore, fire an array of gorgeous multi-coloured rockets in a 60-foot wide screen using art projectors and lasers. No two shows are ever the same, so this promises to be an event worth witnessing! It is a totally free event and the only thing required is to bring all your imagination and creativity to Bournemouth seafront the 9th and 10th of October at 7:30pm, 8:15pm or 9pm.

bournemouth2If you fancy more digital experience, don’t worry because Antonin Fourneau, a French digital artist, brings his exciting interactive artwork to the Arts by the Sea Festival; the water light graffiti experience. An incredible wall of thousands of LED lights will be raised along the seafront by Undercliff Drive between 4pm and 8pm from the 9th to the 11th of October. This epic experience will allow you to draw in light using a paintbrush water spray or even your finger to create an incredible wall of illuminated eco-graffiti.

bournemouth3The Arts by the Sea Festival also invites you to a must-see event on the 11th of October, A River of Light created by Creatmosphere, an internationally acclaimed artistic studio that focuses on the exploration of light and its interplay with art, architecture, place and audience. The studio has been commissioned to create a new light installation especially for the festival. They will also be working on light floating objects from 10am on the lawn outside the Bandstand in the Lower Gardens and you are welcome to create your own too and collect it when the night is over! Don’t miss out on this dynamic visual spectacle and hang around the Lower Gardens from 7am to witness River Bourne being lit up!

These are just some of the highlighted events that the Arts by the Sea Festival offers. For the full run down of this year’s programme please Click here.

If everything mentioned above is still not enough for you, don’t worry because events keep on coming. This autumn BFX Festival (Bournemouth´s Visual Effects, Computer Games & Animation Festival) is back for its second year to celebrate the digital industry, share the latest knowledge and inspire the next wave of talent. So if you are a huge fan of the film industry, are fascinated by the incomparable visual effects and love animation and games don’t even think twice and make sure you get to the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) between the 28th of September and the 4th of October.  Although tickets must be purchased for most of the activities, screenings and workshops there is a free family weekend (3rd and 4th October) that includes a programme of public screenings, workshops and presentations.

As you can see, there are a lot of events and activities to enjoy and get involved in, so make sure you are aware of every one of them and don’t let the autumnal weather keep you locked up at home!
